Senator Barack Obama- Why I Will Not Vote For You

"Let Me Count the Ways"

As most of you know, before my tenure with United Small Business, I worked for 30 years with the United States Chamber of Commerce (my first job out of college). In that time period, I had the pleasure of meeting 3 Presidents-Nixon, Reagan and Bush (41), countless Senators, Congressmen, Fortune 1000 executives, and many small business owners. Not one of this "A"-Type personality group ever gave me the feelings and impressions that I get from the first term Senator. My viewpoint of him is an affectation of superiority, manifested in an overbearing manner, base on presumptuous claims. His ineptitude is only exceeded by his arrogance!

For example, on 7/30/2008, he said "This is the moment the world is waiting for…I have become a symbol of the possibility of America returning to our best traditions." We believe that there has never been a Presidential nominee with a wider gap between his estimation of himself and the sum total of his lifetime achievements. He makes President Clinton, Senator Gore, Senator Kerry, and Senator Clinton seem humble in comparison. The Senator has only 3 years in the Senate, of which he was there for about 130 days. He has not one single important legislative accomplishment to his name, he was an Illinois State Senator who voted "present" 130 times rather than taking a stand. He was President of the Harvard Law Review, a law professor and a legislator, but can anyone remember a single notable piece of scholarship? Can anyone remember a significant article? His most memorable work was a biography of his most favorite subject "HIMSELF". It is a subject which he can dilate effortlessly. In his victory speech upon winning the nomination he declared "It is a great turning point in history-generations from now we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment." When among other wonders, "The rise of the oceans began to slow." Economist Irwin Stelzer succinctly stated in his London Daily Telegraph column "Moses made the waters recede but he had help." Senator Obama apparently works alone.

In Senator Obama's acceptance speech, he reminded me of the answers given by beauty contestants about their goal for "world peace." That is the only thing that the Senator did not promise. He vowed to defeat terrorism and nuclear proliferation, poverty and genocide, climate change and disease. He promised to "restore our moral standing –end our dependence on oil from the Middle East within 10 years." Even though he doesn't want to drill. I guess he figures he can turn the "loaves and fishes" into oil!

We believe that job creation for the Senator is one vast public works project in which a group of government bureaucrats will do the "investing". With the tax dollars he expects to come pouring in when he raises tax rates on upper-income workers ( he claims that would only be on $250,000 and higher but he also claims that it will affect the top 5% of earners which brings the figure down to $140,000+). He promises a huge tax raise in the capital gains tax (note to Senator, history has proven this always results in less income, not more). He ridicules Senator McCain's economic growth prescriptions which call for keeping the tax cuts we have and to reduce the corporate tax rate, which is the 2nd highest in the industrialized world. This decrease would certainly spur business expansion and hiring.

Senator Obama firmly believes that his "gospel" The Book of Government Solutions is the universal panacea for our country. The Democratic party has become indistinguishable from the old socialist labor parties of Europe. We believe free market capitalism in under greater attack in America today than at any time in the last 50 years.

As Aleksander Solzhenitsyn was receiving his Nobel Prize he said "The timid civilized world has found nothing with which to oppose the onslaught of a sudden revival of a barefaced barbarity other than concessions and smiles."

When you go into that voting booth think of the current world problems in: Russia, Georgia, a nuclear Iran, Iraq, North Korea, Israel, Palestine, Afghanistan, Pakistan, et al.

Who do you want to protect you and your family?
